CTS engages PolyDyne to streamline global materials sourcing

Austin, Texas—August 28, 2010— PolyDyne Software Inc.®, the leading provider of strategic sourcing solutions for the electronics industry, announced today that CTS Corporation (“CTS”) has selected PolyDyne’s QuoteWin® Strategic Sourcing application to manage its new business quoting operations.

CTS Electronics Manufacturing Solutions (EMS) specializes in complex, high mix, and medium volume needs by providing custom manufacturing services, including complete turnkey solutions. CTS also holds specialty FDA and medical approvals, along with aerospace and defense registrations.

CTS engaged PolyDyne when it began searching for a web application that could be deployed globally to manage its new business quoting processes. The objective was to implement a solution that would create a centralized repository allowing CTS to better leverage global spend while providing the flexibility necessary for each region to manage its operations autonomously. The new system had to deliver excellent performance 24/7/365 to CTS users and its suppliers worldwide.

Global complexity was a key driver behind the purchase of a strategic sourcing solution. CTS has multiple supply chains in which each geography are managed differently. The ability for dispersed users to work on the same project in parallel was key. The application also needed to handle complex currency conversions to normalize pricing from suppliers quoting in different currencies. The global complexity of its operations was compounded by the fact that CTS also needed to segregate data for ITAR and Aerospace & Defense purposes.

Real‐time access to relevant pricing data has become increasingly important to drive cost out of the supply chain, and to ensure that global pricing from their suppliers is consistent and competitive. QuoteWin’s reporting suite provides CTS the insight it needs to handle common tasks including: quickly producing various views of a Costed Bill of Materials, estimate excess inventory generated, perform ECO audits of the BOM and AML data, and identify active component contract pricing.

During the evaluation of sourcing solutions, rich functionality became a key requirement for CTS.  CTS needed a system that could: quote over 10 volume breaks, quote different top‐level assembly volumes within the same project, allow separate uploads of BOM and AML data, and quote change requests without having to create new projects. CTS found that QuoteWin was powerful enough to handle all of its requirements and flexible enough to allow it to build in its unique business processes and competitive differentiators.

Linda Elkins, PolyDyne Vice President, said “in less than two weeks our team had QuoteWin fully deployed and providing value to CTS. They plan to use QuoteWin’s best practices to drive even more discipline into their sourcing processes. Because the software is so intuitive, there was a very short learning curve. We expect the ease‐of‐use to increase CTS’ productivity by 10% to 20%.” CTS plans to expand its use of QuoteWin to include several advanced modules that it expects would further strengthen its competitive position.
